New fitness column in independent
www.vwindependent.com

Starting today in The Van Wert independent is a new health, fitness and lifestyle column called “The
Blueprint” (click here to read the column) The column will be a weekly feature published every Thursday
and is written by Neil and Ginny Schaadt, co-owners of Van Wert’s The Body Building, a local fitness
club that specializes in building healthy bodies. “We are excited and pleased to offer our expertise and
advice in this new column for The Van Wert independent,” offered Ginny Schaadt, co-owner and a
certified personal trainer. “We believe "The Blueprint" will serve as just that: a blueprint for lifestyle
change, improving fitness and nutrition levels and offering advice on how to improve one’s quality of life.”
As our readers approach the end of 2006 and the typical holiday weight gain, followed by a resolution to
change in the New Year, the debut column, featured in today’s issue, will offer a blueprint for developing
goals for lifestyle change in 2007. With a passion for fitness and the desire to build a healthier
community, Neil and Ginny Schaadt decided to turn their hobby into a profession and opened The Body
Building fitness center in January 2006.  Their motto is “We Build Healthy Bodies One by One,” and they
strive to meet this goal by offering personal attention to each and every member of their club. They invite
everyone to stop by the facility, located at 220 Fox Road in Van Wert, or check out The Body Building
website at www.tbbonline.com.

“New Year, New You Project” to change two lives in 2007
BY VANWERTVOICE.COM CONTRIBUTOR CONTENT - Dec. 14, 2006
From THE BODY BUILDING

VAN WERT - As 2007 approaches and people begin to make their New Year’s resolutions, The Body
Building, a fitness club located in Van Wert, will be looking to find one male and one female who want to
change their lifestyle and get in shape. The “New Year, New You Project” will begin in January and will
offer a free three-month membership, personal training and fitness advice to two people who are willing
to take the challenge. “We are excited to announce this contest, and we hope that we will get an
overwhelming response of letters and emails from people who desperately want to change their lifestyle
and finally get in shape in 2007,” said Neil Schaadt, co-owner of The Body Building, which opened its
doors last February. “What we are offering is a chance for two people who have struggled to find
something to work for them, and we want to be the ones that finally get them going.” The Body Building
will be accepting letters and email submission of people’s personal testimonies of why they deserve the
chance to take the challenge and the chance to change their lives. The letters should include the person’
s full name, address, phone number, email address, age and weight, as well as the reason why you
should be selected. Once the winners are chosen, the project will begin in January and run through the
end of March. They will receive a free three-month membership and two personal training sessions each
week during the contest. It is a prize worth over $700. Goals will be set for each individual and if they
reach their goals, The Body Building will present them with a special gift package to include a one hour
massage at the club, either a $25 club credit or a 30-day unlimited tan package and a specialized club t-
shirt. The larger goal, of course, is the potential of changing their lives. “We will read each letter and
email and truly take into account each person’s struggles and stories, as well as their hopes and dreams
for beginning on the path to a lifestyle that encourages fitness and nutrition,” offered Ginny Schaadt, co-
owner and a certified personal trainer at the club. “We want to choose two people who have struggled for
so long and are ready to finally make the commitment to changing. We want them to be honest, open and
goal-oriented, and we also want them to know that we are willing to do everything in our power to help
them succeed.” Letters and emails can be submitted to The Body Building at 220 Fox Road, Van Wert,
Ohio 45891 or thebodybuilding@tbbonline.com. All contestants should submit a brief reason why they
should be chosen, why they are ready to make a change and what goals they have for a new lifestyle.
Deadline for submissions is December 27. The winners will be chosen by December 30. “We hope that
anyone out there, male and female, young or old, will write to us and tell us their story. We will do our
best to give a tremendous opportunity to two lucky people and will begin the process of changing their
lives and getting them into shape,” said Ginny Schaadt. The Body Building offers a full variety of fitness
opportunities located in a state-of-the-art facility. They feature courses in boxing, Pilates, yoga, cycling,
sports training, Transform, free weight class and offer tanning, massage and personal training. With the
latest in cardio and weight equipment, the fitness club offers an array of membership options. The Body
Building stresses lifestyle change and wants to help build healthy bodies one by one. For more

Contestants prepare to take it off

Like the rest of what seems like everyone in the world, David Kayser and Julie Schaufelberger were
prepared to make the typical New Year’s resolution to lose weight, eat better and increase their fitness in
2007. However, Kayser and Schaufelberger are lucky enough to have help this year as they were
chosen as winners of The Body Building Fitness Club’s “New You Project.” The contest, launched in
December, rewards the winners with three months of focused, intense and disciplined fitness and
training at The Body Building in the hopes of changing the contestants’ lifestyles. “We had over 15
people, both male and female, write in and tell us their stories of why they wanted to change their lives,”
said Neil and Ginny Schaadt, owners of The Body Building. “The staff had a difficult decision choosing
the two contestants because everyone who wrote in offered much courage in sharing their stories.”
Ultimately, the staff went with Schaufelberger, a physical education teacher at St. Mary’s Catholic School
in Van Wert, and Kayser, also of Van Wert, who is a salesman. Both had unique stories of why they have
struggled for so long and why they want to change now. For Schaufelberger, her health and the health of
her family was at the forefront of wanting to enter the contest, but it also came down to her students at
St. Mary’s. “I am an overweight, unfit hypocrite,” Schaufelberger wrote in her heartfelt e-mail entry. “Why
am I a hypocrite? Because I am a physical education teacher who is the most unfit person in her whole
school … but it’s time for a change.” Kayser wrote that he honestly has tried every diet and every
gimmick to no avail. “Since graduation in 1984, I have gained 100 pounds,” Kayser wrote in his e-mail
submission. :I have tried many things: diet, pills, liquid supplements, exercise, even hypnosis, but I just
can’t stay with it. I’m the type of person who needs the encouragement of a professional to motivate me
and hold me accountable.” For both the contenders, the fact they were selected came as a shock, but
both are ready to take the challenge and regain control of the lives – both in terms of fitness and
nutrition. “When I found out, I cried off and on throughout the day,” said Schaufelberger. “It was an
emotional day because I want to do this for my family and especially for my four children. Most of all, I
want to do this for me. I need to be selfish these three months and just do this for me.” Kayser said he
was excited about the opportunity. “I had a legitimate heart attack because of stress and weight,” Kayser
said. “I want to be around for my wife and kids. I can’t afford to not do anything. If I am pushed and
motivated, then I can do it.” Both Kayser and Schaufelberger have just begun their journey towards a
total lifestyle change and will finish the project at the end of March. They are receiving a free
membership during the contest, as well as nutrition guidance and personal training sessions. If they
successfully meet their goals, they will receive a gift package but, more importantly, the tools they need
to keep their new lifestyle forever. “The total contest, being selected and having the opportunity to win
the gift package, is worth about $700,” said the Schaadts. “Obviously, we believe the fact that these two
people will finally begin a journey to lifestyle change is the real prize in all of this. We hope others will
follow Dave and Julie’s journey and get inspired as well” The Body Building will provide updates on the
journey of the winners throughout the three-month project and a special “New You Project” blog has
been set up on The Body Building’s website at www.tbbonline.com, where the contestants will be
journaling twice weekly about their successes, failures, triumphs and hardships all on the road to a
healthier lifestyle. The blog is also located at http://newyouproject.blogspot.com and will feature their
entries, plus photos and other information for the public to follow along. As for those who were not
chosen, The Body Building is still willing to help them out and is offering them a special consolation prize:
“We are presenting those who weren’t selected with 50-percent savings on a one-month membership, as
well as waiving registration costs and offering them three introductory workouts with a trainer at no cost,”
offered the Schaadts. “We were moved by their stories and wanted to thank them and also give them a
chance to change their lives as well.”
